SB 366 Update: Strengthening the Future of Therapy Access in Nevada
At Tilton’s Therapy, we believe that advocacy is action—and action doesn't stop when the path gets hard. Although SB 366 was not granted a hearing this session, we mobilized every resource to keep the mission alive: achieving Nevada’s first Medicaid therapy rate increase in over 45 years.
Why It Matters:
Nevada ranks among the lowest in therapy provider access per capita. Reimbursement rates have not increased since the 1970s, making it harder for families to access occupational, physical, and speech therapy services—especially in rural and underserved communities.
What We Did:
Drafted alternative “zombie bill” language to explore all legislative options
Met with legislators and Medicaid leadership to present data from Quadrennial Rate Reviews
Brought our advocacy to Capitol Hill—meeting all six of Nevada’s federal legislators
Secured co-sponsorship of H.R. 879 by three Nevada Congressmembers
Collaborated with NOTA, NSHA, APTA-Nevada, and the Governor’s Council to unify strategy
Raised public awareness through NOTA Hill Day and direct action campaigns
Session Wins That Keep Us Moving Forward:
✅ SB 113 – Now law, expanding therapist authority for accessible parking permits
✅ AB 248, AB 230, AB 177 – Passed, enhancing licensure and workforce support
❌ SB 78 – Defeated, preserving independent licensing boards for OTs and others
What’s Next:
Our coalition is stronger than ever. We will continue pressing forward—because therapy services aren’t optional. They are essential. And Nevadans deserve better.
