Brynn is an occupational therapist specializing in aquatic therapy for kids and adults. When she is not in the pool, she is a busy soccer mom of two wonderful children. Brynn loves to do anything active and outdoors, travel, and enjoys her downtime in between.

What is aquatic therapy?
Great question! It is a unique therapeutic modality that utilizes the unique properties of water—such as buoyancy, resistance, turbulence, and viscosity—to work on any areas that a client may need to address.

So what does this actually look like?
Using the core principles and tenets of occupational therapy, activities and interventions can be created that work on goals while keeping the client engaged and motivated. Brynn sees various conditions/diagnoses and targets areas such as strength and coordination, balance, postural control, fine motor skills, visual motor skills, ideation, attention to task, sensory processing skills, self-regulation, safety awareness, social skills, and overall engagement and participation.

Water safety is another big area of concern for many kids and is addressed in every session. Aquatic therapy is great for both children and adults, as Brynn uses an indoor pool with a depth of 3.5-4.5 feet, heated to 92 degrees so it can be used year-round. It is often a great complement to traditional OT or PT, where progress is seen not only in the pool but also during daily meaningful activities outside of the pool.
