Dr. Deanna Maranon-Velazco is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, near the scenic Mountain Charleston. She earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Touro University, Nevada in 2022. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Maranon-Velazco developed an educational program designed to prepare occupational therapists to address activities of daily living (ADLs), specifically sexual activity, with stroke survivors. Upon transitioning to an OTR/L role, she has continued to provide education to occupational therapy practitioners and students through platforms such as AOTA, NOTA, and several universities. Additionally, she became certified as a neuro specialist in November, furthering her expertise in neurological rehabilitation.
Currently, Dr. Maranon-Velazco diem position in home health, serving patients from newborns to older adults. Alongside her clinical work, she contributes to academia as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Dr. Maranon-Velazco enjoys family life as a mother of two sons. She values travel, often visiting her husband who serves in the military, and embraces opportunities to experience new cuisines and local stores during her trips. Moreover, she has developed a keen interest in ceramic painting, finding relaxation and fulfillment in the creative process.
