Tilton’s Therapy is in search of a qualified, registered, and licensed Occupational Therapist to treat a variety of diagnoses in the pediatric population. We are looking for a quality practitioner with 1+ year of experience to join our rehabilitation team. The ideal candidate is a compassionate therapist devoted to patient advocacy, communicates with other members of the rehabilitation team effectively and respectfully, is professional with cultural competence, and believes in the model of outpatient therapy in the natural environment. The person hired for this position would provide mobile outpatient occupational therapy services to children across various areas of the Las Vegas valley, northern Nevada (Carson City, Reno, Tahoe), and Oregon.  We are looking for someone that is eager to work with children and/ adults in their natural environment, experienced in providing occupational therapy services, and open to learning new treatment methods to enhance their clinical skills. The right candidate is patient, passionate, empathetic, and encouraging in their family-based approach to treatments, in order to inspire patients and their caregivers to maximum independence. 

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS:

  • Perform initial and ongoing occupational therapy evaluations according to NBCOT and Nevada Occupational Therapy Board standards of practice

  • Develop a treatment plan for each patient that is client-centered including short and long term goals with caregiver involvement

  • Provide quality therapeutic interventions in the patient’s natural environment to adequately support the treatment plan for the patient to facilitate functional outcomes and goal attainment

  • Participate in effective interdisciplinary communication to maximize client outcomes through a team approach

  • Adequately document treatment interventions, plan of care, assessments, evaluations of the current level of functioning, patient progression, and discharge of skilled services according to approved medical and company documentation procedures

  • Practice adequate safety awareness and clinical judgment to keep patients and therapists safe during treatments

  • If applicable, effectively communicate, monitor, and develop supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) to increase patient access to quality occupational therapy services.  Supervision of an OTA would be performed within the guidelines of the Nevada Occupational Therapy licensing board and to NBCOT standards

  • Communicate compassionately, effectively, and productively with clients, caseworkers, and families for appropriate scheduling of evaluations, treatments, and ongoing care.

  • Travel to and from patients' homes, daycares, and other facilities to perform therapy treatments using their own transportation with a Valid Driver's License.

  • Ability to react to change productively and gracefully, including but not limited to client scenarios and insurance modernizations.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST:

  • Bachelors of Science or Masters of Occupational Therapy degree from an accredited occupational therapy program per NBCOT standards. 

  • Active Nevada Occupational Therapy license

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with AED

  • 1+ years experience working as an occupational therapist

  • Experience with recommending assistive equipment/devices and facilitation of ordering equipment with good collaboration with vendors

  • Providing own therapy equipment required to complete in-home treatments

  • Knowledge of Physical and Speech Therapy with an understanding of how their services can benefit patients
