Rebecca is a certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is currently licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the states of Nevada and Florida. She received her Graduate Degree in speech and hearing sciences in 2002, from the University of South Alabama. Since gaining her graduate degree, Rebecca has steadily worked to expand her knowledge in the field.
Over the last 20 years, Rebecca has worked to provide quality speech and language therapy services in the following settings: public schools, private educational programs, and home services, such as early intervention. While most of her experience has been with pediatrics, she has provided care in a skilled nursing setting and hospital setting, as part of her externship studies. The majority of Rebecca’s experience though, has been with the pediatric population. She has worked extensively with toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, and young adults. Her work with this population has given her the opportunity to understand how to evaluate, diagnose, and develop a treatment plan for a variety of communication disorders to include: receptive/expressive language disorders, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, autism spectrum disorders, social skills, Down Syndrome, and other developmental delays.
Rebecca feels that a large part of providing quality speech and language therapy is to ensure therapy is engaging and fun. She enjoys personalizing therapy intervention so that it’s a best fit for the individual in need of speech and language services. She also views the family of the individuals she serves as an important part of ensuring therapy intervention is a success. Thus, Rebecca finds ways to work with families, so they can help with carry-over of therapeutic interventions.
She has been dedicated to the field of speech-language pathology for over 20 years. In that time, Rebecca has gained a lot of continued education and worked with amazing colleagues, who have enhanced her knowledge in my field. She derives tremendous satisfaction from watching individuals she serves, along with their families, benefit from speech and language therapy. She feels that it’s so rewarding to watch a child learn to say a first word through play therapy, or for an older child, learn how to say a word correctly, without fear of a challenging sound. Being able to communicate is an important part of what Rebecca teaches, and it’s such an important part of the quality of life we all enjoy. She feels passionate about that, and finds it very inspiring to have a part in enhancing the communication skills of those that she serves.
