Therapist Feature: Brittany Vargas, COTA

Our featured therapist this month is Brittany Vargas, Occupational Therapist Assistant!

Brittany has been working in this industry or in a related position for three years. She was a member of the first graduating OTA class at Pima University. Brittany joined the Tilton’s Therapy Team in August of 2020. She has worked in other settings such as outpatient pediatrics and some experience working in skilled nursing facilities.

The field of occupational therapy offers Brittany an opportunity to be creative and focus on individual care, which is the aspect she most enjoys about the profession.

“Keeps things interesting!”

Brittany has always had a desire to work with kids and pediatrics is her area of interest. She is always eager to learn more, especially about sensory integration. Brittany feels that mobile therapy offers her the opportunity to build relationships with the families of her clients, which she enjoys.

She expresses an appreciation for the dynamic that comes with being inside their home, which is different than going to a clinic. Although she feels that the home setting also brings its own challenges, it is the part of mobile therapy that has been most enjoyable for her. She mentioned that sometimes in a clinic, it is easy to make unrealistic recommendations for families unintentionally, which can leave them frustrated. Being in their home is an advantage point that allows Brittany to provide appropriate care and more specific recommendations.

Originally from Las Vegas, NV, Brittany has spent 30 years in the valley, and it is all she knows! She sometimes considers exploring other places to live, but most of her family lives in Las Vegas.

Brittany expressed a desire to take on students one day to give back to her profession. She is passionate about helping others and animals, as well as engage in anything that allows her to be creative. In her spare time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and family. She enjoys taking trips, going out to eat, having game nights, and staying home relaxing with her four dogs.

Thank you Brittany, for your work as a part of the Tilton’s Therapy Team! We look forward to the creative opportunities the future has in store for you to continue your practice!
