Love Letters Language Therapy

This activity is designed to engage adults in a therapeutic and fun language exercise. The activity involves writing a love letter – or many letters for all of those you love, perfect for the month of February! Find the download for the love letter prompts in our app.

Instructions:

  1. Write a love letter to someone (real or imaginary) using the prompts given in the download. The prompts can help you use of different language structures, such as complex sentences. Try to use very precise vocabulary and expressive language. For example, you might use the word “elated” versus “happy.”

  2. Read your letter aloud. This will practice your speech and articulation skills.

  3. If possible, exchange letters with a partner and provide constructive feedback on each other's language use, or deliver your love letter to the person you wrote it for!

This activity promotes numerous areas of therapeutic practice:

  • Language Skills: It encourages the use of complex sentences, precise vocabulary, and expressive language.

  • Speech Therapy: Reading the letter aloud practices speech and articulation skills.

  • Fine Motor Skills: Writing the letter can help improve handwriting and fine motor skills.

Remember to make this activity a fun and stress-free experience. It's not about creating the perfect love letter, but about practicing language and speech skills in a fun and engaging way!
