Team Feature: Jason Crawford, OT

This month we are featuring a new member of the Tilton’s Therapy team, Jason Crawford, Occupational Therapist!

Jason grew up in various locales throughout the United States as a self-titled “military brat.” He noted that his memories of childhood began while living in Tennessee, with his formative years spent in Georgia. Although he was born in Florida, he grew up in Georgia but overall spent twice as much of his life living in San Francisco. He completed his undergraduate work in Athens at the University of Georgia. Following his undergraduate, Jason earned a Masters's in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University in California.

For the past five years, Jason has worked in the Occupational Therapy field. In the past, some of his experience involved working in skilled nursing facilities. He was drawn to the profession because it provides an opportunity to bring the best out in people. Jason is interested in helping people to live more independently and to help them engage in the activities that are most meaningful to them.

The theory or aspect of the profession that Jason appreciates most is the chance he gets to help people on an individual basis. He values that he can affect positive change by establishing strong interpersonal relationships. Giving back to the profession, Jason also has provided mentorship along with supervising Level II fieldwork students.

Jason spent some time immersed in the famed Athens music scene as a spectator and performer before heading out to San Francisco in the mid-aughts to see what it looked like. After living there, he ended up staying put for the better part of 18 years. Jason enjoys engaging in fitness activities like boxing or high-intensity interval workouts in his spare time. He also spends time reading and writing literature as well as recording music and performing. In general, he states about his interests,

“Music. Art, in general. Self-actualization. Getting down to the bottom of things.”

About his current city, Las Vegas, NV, Jason has been living here for a little less than 18 years and says, “I love the diversity and the natural beauty in the surrounding areas.”

Thank you, Jason, for joining the Tilton’s Therapy team and offering your expertise to help individuals reach their maximum level of independence!
