Team Feature: Lauren Gibson, PT
This month, we are featuring one of our awesome physical therapists: Lauren Gibson!
Lauren has been working as a physical therapist for over four years. Originally, what drew her to the profession was the opportunity to work with children. She gained this experience while in college, working in a position where she shadowed a pediatric therapist and quickly knew that she had found her professional path to follow. Lauren loved the idea of working one-on-one with people and being able to see the difference you are making in their lives.
Receiving her undergraduate degrees from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, Lauren brought her knowledge and expertise to Tilton’s Therapy in the summer of 2020. Her experience spans work in outpatient pediatrics, outpatient orthopedics, aquatic therapy, and work in a preschool setting.
What Lauren enjoys most about being a physical therapist is the opportunity to build relationships with patients and their families. It is her belief that good relationships with patients are the foundation for successful therapy. Lauren also completed training in Total Motion Release, which is a treatment approach that promotes symmetrical body alignment. She uses this approach often as a pain-free way to treat torticollis along with improving alignment in individuals with cerebral palsy.
Throughout her career, Lauren has given back to the profession in different ways. One way, in particular, is her three years of work as a “bike-builder” for a non-profit in Nashville which provides adaptive tricycles for special needs kids. Recently, Lauren joined the Las Vegas chapter of this organization and is excited to help more individuals in her community get bikes! In Colorado, Lauren works at a summer camp that allows children with special needs to participate in adapted recreational sports.
Lauren was born and raised in Huntington, WV, lived in Nashville, TN for six years, and moved to Las Vegas in 2019. In her spare time, Laurent likes to rock climb, snowboard, play volleyball, swing dance, hike, and bike. One of her biggest passions in life is, in her own words,
“helping children with special needs participate in things that a typical developing child participates in, be it rock climbing, riding bike, or riding a horse; everything is adaptable and all children deserve those experiences.”
Regarding mobile therapy, Lauren says she loves the freedom that it allows. She thinks that providing therapy in an individual’s natural environment provides the best success!
Thank you, Lauren, for your dedication to your community! We look forward to all the wonderful work you will do for your clients in the future and are grateful to have you on our team at Tilton’s Therapy!
