Therapist Feature: Theresa Grimes, SLP

This month we are featuring one of our amazing speech-language pathologists, Theresa Grimes!

Theresa has always loved children and knew she had a passion for helping others. The career path of speech therapy was the perfect fit and she has been working as a speech-language pathologist since 2001. Theresa said,

“it’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years.”

Earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in New York, Theresa attended SUNY Cortland and Adelphi. Her favorite aspect of her profession is feeding therapy, otherwise known as dysphagia.

During the course of her career, Theresa has worked in settings such as early intervention, private practice, special education preschools, for Clark County School District for 10 years, and within a pediatric hospital setting. She is most experienced working in feeding therapy, with speech and language impaired students, on functional communication, and working with students on the autism spectrum.

Throughout the course of her career, Theresa has given back to the profession through mentorship of students, organizing fundraisers, as well as presenting to her peers. Theresa most appreciates the flexibility provided by working in mobile therapy as well as the opportunity it presents to connect with families in their homes. One challenge that Theresa faces in the Las Vegas climate however, is navigating the heat while traveling during the summer months.

Theresa spends her free time focusing on spending time with her family, playing with her dog, watching Netflix, cooking, and lifting weights. Originally from New York, Theresa has lived in Las Vegas since 2005. She appreciates the beauty of the desert, the warmer weather, and the life she has created. Theresa is passionate about empowering and supporting parents while helping children make progress.

Thank you for being part of the Tilton’s Therapy team Theresa! We value the work you do with our clients and look forward to all you will do in the future.
