Therapist Feature: Robert Buhl, COTA

Our featured team member this month is Robert Buhl, COTA!

Robert has worked as an occupational therapist assistant or in a similar position in the industry for 21 years. He has worked for 13 years full-time and the remainder part-time. Robert also has experience working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for eight years within the same time period. The last three months, Robert has devoted his work to his clients as a member of the Tilton’s Therapy team. Originally, Robert was drawn to the profession because he was inspired by the concept of assisting people to improve their functionality in practical manners, which was described to him by a new graduate as an occupational therapist assistant.

Robert received his education in Boston, MA. He earned his Associate degree as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (MNT MCP/AHS) in 1994, his Associate degree as an occupational therapist assistant (MBCC) in 1998, and as a registered nurse in 2003.

Originally from Boston, Robert says he is from, “Bawstan. And I actually have pawked my caw in Hawvad Yawd.”

The theory or aspect of the profession that Robert most enjoys is assisting people to understand function and resourcing themselves to achieve newer or appropriate levels of function after mishap. Robert has experience working in other settings such as Skilled Nursing, Adult Day Centers, Acute Rehab, Pediatric clinics, and adult home healthcare.

Throughout his career, Robert has given back to the profession through his work as a student clinical instructor at MBCC, serving as a board member with MBCC teaching in a clinical setting, providing student mentorship locally, working as a lab assistant locally, and served as a board member at PIMA.

In his spare time, Robert enjoys meeting up with friends, bowling, and engaging in creative writing or computer skills development. Prior to working in home healthcare, Robert enjoyed driving for pleasure. Although Robert also appreciates the freedom to be his own boss working in mobile therapy and meeting new people all the time, it can be challenging to maintain a tight schedule and driving in traffic throughout the city.

Robert has lived in Las Vegas for almost nine years. He appreciates the weather, but also notes that Las Vegas has the best clinical environment in the country.

Thank you for all the work you do as a occupational therapist assistant Robert! We are so happy to have you on the team and look forward to all the wonderful work you will continue to do in the future.
