Category Flipbook Game
The Category Flipbook Game is a fun speech therapy activity that focuses on building vocabulary, word retrieval, and categorization skills. The flipbook consists of printable resources that you can print — and it serves as a visual aid for the game.
You’ll Need:
Printed Category cards (available for download in our app)
Binder rings or a small binder
Scissors
Hole punch
Markers or colored pencils (optional)
Instructions:
Cut out each category card and use a hole punch to make a hole in the top left corner of each card. If desired, let the participants color the images using markers or colored pencils.
Assemble the flipbook by organizing the cards in random order and attaching them with binder rings or placing them inside a small binder.
To play the game, show a category card and ask each person playing to name items that belong in the category. Set a timer for 30 seconds to 1 minute and encourage each person to name as many items as possible. For variation, you could write down the items instead of saying them out loud and read them all after the timer has been completed.
For more advanced play, ask the participant to create sentences using items within the category or make connections between items in different categories.
This activity targets vocabulary development, word retrieval, categorization skills, and sentence building. It serves as a fun and engaging way to practice speech therapy goals and can easily be adapted to the participant's skill level.
