Therapist Feature: Arian Wiesen, OT

This month we are featuring new grad and occupational therapist, Arian Wiesen. Arian joined Tilton’s Therapy after obtaining her state licensure and has worked for the company for about 4 months. She is enjoying the work and the people she interacts with throughout the day. (I’d say this is a great start to her first occupational therapy job).

Arian is a Las Vegas native. She enjoys the variety of food and the plethora of activities to do in and around the city the most. Since she went to the University of Mary in North Dakota, she says “it made me really appreciate Vegas in a new way.”

She credits her own birth history, being born 6 weeks early, and her mom’s encouragement to look into the occupational therapy field. Being premature, Arian needed to receive occupational, physical, and speech therapies. Having this understanding and experience with therapy, as well as a mother who is a physical therapist inspired her to embark on this career path.

Watching her clients improve and reach their goals is one aspect she enjoys the most about occupational therapy. “A discharge is always a great day because I can celebrate my client’s victories with them and let them go onto the next thing in their lives” she states.

Since Tilton’s Therapy is her first job she has not had the opportunity to give back to her profession just yet. However, she looks forward to being able to take on students one day in the future. During her fieldwork rotations, she was able to gain some experience in an outpatient clinic and an acute care setting.

Arian really enjoys traveling and seeing the world. She wants to experience other cultures and be able to try out different foods. She has most recently been to Peru and Japan but has many more places on her list to go. Another way she finds the work life balance is “going on walks, watching television, hanging out with my bird, and talking with my boyfriend.”
