Spring Scene Sequencing Cards

A Spring-Themed Sequencing & Language Activity for Adults

Support communication, cognition, and functional thinking through seasonal, real-life sequencing scenarios.

You’ll Need:

  • Printed scene boards and step cards

  • Scissors

  • Pen or pencil

  • Optional: timer for pacing or group play

How to Play:

Option 1:

  1. Choose a scenario (Picnic or Gardening).

  2. Cut out the step cards

  3. Shuffle the step cards.

  4. Ask the participant to arrange them in the correct order.

  5. Discuss:

    • What happens first?

    • Why does this come next?

    • How would you do this in real life?

SLP Tip: Encourage participants to describe each step aloud and retell the full sequence as a story.

Option 2: Write It Out

  1. Provide a blank sequencing board and out-of-order steps.

  2. Participants write the steps in the correct order.

  3. Offer adaptive writing tools if needed.

Option 3: Step-by-Step Stations

  1. Tape the cards around the room.

  2. Participants move to collect and order the steps.

  3. Return to a board or table to arrange them.

  4. Review the sequence together.

Therapeutic Benefits:

  • OT: Cognitive sequencing, executive functioning, fine motor skills

  • SLP: Language formulation, storytelling, problem-solving

  • PT (Optional): Movement-based interaction like walking or reaching
