You’ll need:
Printed activity sheet of sounds and examples to hunt for (available in our mobile app)
Paper and pencil for each participant
A timer (optional)
Instructions:
Explain to the participants that they will be playing a Sound Hunt game where they need to find and identify items or objects within their environment containing the target sounds or words.
Hand out paper and pencil: Give each participant a sheet of paper and a pencil to write down the items or objects they find during the Sound Hunt.
Start the hunt: Set a time limit (5-10 minutes) and start the timer. Have participants search their environment for items or objects containing the target sounds or words.
How to pick the winner: The participant who finds the most items containing the target sounds or words within the time limit is the winner. However, the primary goal of the activity is to practice articulation and listening skills, so focus on providing positive feedback and encouraging everyone to play.
Review and discuss: As a group, go over the list of items found by each participant. Prompt participants to say the words clearly and correctly, working on the effective articulation of the target sounds.
Variations:
For a more challenging version, ask participants to come up with items they do not physically see in their environment but can think of, based on the target sounds or words (e.g., "scissors" if the target sound is "s").
