Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Awareness
During the month of November, the National Lung, Heart, and Blood Institute recognizes, National Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Awareness Month. Their aim is to focus on increasing awareness of this disease because with early diagnosis and beginning treatment, patients with this disease can find ways to improve their overall quality of life.
Sleep Hygiene
With the busy holiday season quickly approaching, it is important that we are all focused (especially now) on our mental and physical health. One way to make sure you are taking care of yourself is to get enough rest. But what if you feel like you don’t normally get very good sleep?
Managing Alzheimer’s — Caregiver Fatigue
Alzheimer’s disease is a form of dementia. It is a degenerative disease that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. As Alzheimer’s progresses, the individual will lose the ability to care for oneself. The disease presents itself in many different ways that coincide with the common experience, “what did I come in here for…?” which makes it difficult to diagnose early on.

This month we are featuring a new member of the Tilton’s Therapy team, Alyssa Carreon, Physical Therapist!
Alyssa pronounces her name “Uh-l-eye-ssa” and not the usual “Uh-lih-ssa.” She was born and raised in the beautiful biggest little city of Reno. At the University of Nevada, Reno, Alyssa earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Science in 2018. She continued on to achieve her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in 2022.

2022 was a fabulous year for Tilton's Therapy and I want to take a moment to extend my gratitude and acknowledge some of our achievements over the past year. This month, our featured team member is Ashlend Rodriguez, SLP!
All of her previous work experience outside of this field has been related to helping others, such as a softball instructor, daycare assistant, or caretaker. After an experience shadowing a speech-language pathologist, Ashlend knew that it was a discipline she could see herself making into a career.

Edith has been working in the industry since 2009, working in outpatient clinics with both adults and pediatrics simultaneously.

This month we are featuring team member Itzel Martinez, our Patient Coordinator/Spanish Interpreter/Translator!
Itzel is originally from sunny San Diego, CA but has lived in Las Vegas, NV for over 10 years. She attended high school and college in Las Vegas before moving back to San Diego to begin working as an Instructional Assistant in Special Education.

This month, we are featuring our amazing Physical Therapist, Emily Walthers von Alten!
Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Kinesiology before proceeding to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, both at UNLV. In 2018, Emily started working with Tilton’s Therapy as she was easily inspired to work with kids in their natural environment after seeing children persevere and improve with therapy regardless of obstacles they face.

Our featured team member this month is Occupational Therapist, Megan Tabano!
Megan has been an Occupational Therapist for about five years and started with the Tilton’s Therapy team in 2020. Growing up with parents who were in the medical field as a nurse and a paramedic, she was always drawn to become part of the medical field as well.

For the month of June, we are featuring team member and Physical Therapist, Jena Espinosa! Jena received a Bachelor of Exercise Science from the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND before proceeding to earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the same university. She is celebrating a decade of working as a Physical Therapist!
